Flyers Poised and Ready for 50th Anniversary Season

Buckle up Flyers fans, because your beloved band of bullies are back. Tonight marks the first game of Philadelphia’s 50-year anniversary season. As stated in the video below it’s “Back to work.”

After a summer that seemed to drag on forever, the Flyers have some new faces on the squad. Highly touted prospects Ivan Provorov (left) and Travis Konecny (right) are set to make their NHL debuts after GM Ron Hextall announced on Monday that they both made the team. He stated, “Those kids, they made this team on their own.” Hextall also stated that both Provorov and Konecny are most likely going to be on the team all year. Two new prospects bring a huge amount of excitement to Philadelphia.

provkonecFree agency also proved beneficial to the Flyers this offseason. Forward Dale Weise was signed to a four-year contract by the franchise back in early July. Weise, a former member of the Chicago Blackhawks, brings a nice veteran presence to Philadelphia. Per the Flyers’ official website, he recorded 27 points in 71 games last season. Weise is slated to make his Flyers debut tonight in L.A.
