The NBA hit the Los Angeles Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, with a lifetime ban today along with a $2.5 million fine for racist comments that he made earlier this week.

Unknown-2According to ABC News, “Effective immediately, I am banning Mr. Sterling for life from any association with the Clippers organization or the NBA,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said at a news conference in New York.

This recent scandal has emerged from the release of an audio tape this past weekend that recorded a man that is identified as Sterling making racist remarks to his girlfriend, including disparaging comments about basketball legend Magic Johnson.

The comments were released and unleashed major issues with celebrities, politicians, and opened up a nationwide conflict.

All of a sudden this recorded conversation said between Sterling and his Unknown-1girlfriend has made the Los Angeles Clippers’ owner the most hated person in the sports world, a man considered such a vile person that even President Obama felt the need to weigh in.

According to the NYTimes, “When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don’t really have to do anything, you just let them talk,” Obama said. Sorry, Mr. President, not this time. It looks as if the NBA and its team owners have finally had enough of Sterling, and the overdue moment for dealing with him is finally here.

Many people have been affected by this, even the Clippers
players turned their warm ups inside out for their game so that their team logo was not showing. They also wore black wristbands as a form of a silent protest.
