Francis Suarez Drops Out of the Race

Miami Fla. Mayor Francis X. Suarez becomes the first Republican to drop out of the 2024 Presidential election.

On Tuesday, the Mayor of Miami, Florida, Francis X. Suarez, announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he has suspended his campaign for the Republican Nomination for President. This decision comes off his failure to make the GOP primary debate.

Suarez made comments earlier this month at a campaign stop in Iowa, saying that if a candidate failed to make it to the debate, they should drop out of the race.

On the August 23rd GOP Primary debate, Suarez was absent, despite claiming numerous times (in now deleted) posts that he had qualified for the debate. His comments were echoed back at him by media and fellow Republicans.

Suarez, a first-generation Cuban American, ran on his Hispanic background and his ability to unite a politically divided country.

However, Suarez’s campaign never got off the ground, failing to generate above 1% of interest in opinion polls. Suarez would only make headlines for his gaffes.

Back in June, during an appearance on Hugh Hewitt’s podcast, Hewitt would ask Suarez about the ongoing genocide of Uyghur people in China.

Suarez puzzled, asked, “What’s a Uyghur?” Before reassuring Hewitt, he will research the group. Suarez claimed he misunderstood what Hewitt was saying because of his pronunciation of Uyghur.
