Winter Movie Preview

Thanksgiving and winter break are the prefect times to cuddle up by the fire, sip some hot chocolate, and maybe curl up with a good book. But be careful you don’t miss some of this years hottest movie while you were busy hiding from the cold weather.


The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug: Opening Dec. 13.

Following last year’s holiday blockbuster, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey starring British actors Martin Freeman as the BilboBaggins and Ian McKellan as Gandalf, it’s sequel The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will hit theaters December. 13. Peter Jackson reprises his directing skills from the previous Middle Earth saga The Lord of the Rings, to create one of the century’s most beloved children’s books. “The Hobbit” written by J.R.R. Tolkein tells the story of a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who embarks on an adventure that will forever change the future of Middle Earth.

In Walker’s final completed performance, he plays a desperate father trying to keep his premature daughter alive.


In this heart stopping drama, The Fast and the Furious star the late Paul Walker plays a desperate father trying to keep his premature daughter alive in the wake of Hurricane Katrina’s landfall in New Orleans. This is Walker’s last completed movie before his death on Nov. 30 from a car crash in Santa Clarita, Cali. Stranded in a hospital, Walker’s character Nolan faces the grief of losing the mother of his child as well as Mother Nature’s fury; he must struggle to keep the ventilator powered, which is keeping the newborn alive. You won’t want to miss this edge of your seat Indie movie.



American Hustle: Opening Dec. 18  


Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro reunite this holiday season, but instead of a light hearted Academy Award winning romantic comedy, they return for a darker, grittier and more sinister purpose.  Taking place in 1970’s Boston, this mafia crime thriller centers on con man Irving Rosenfeld, played by Christian Bale and his British partner Sydney Prosser, played by Amy Adams, is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso, Cooper’s character.


Anchor Man 2: Opening Dec. 20


This Christmas, get ready to join the Channel 4 News Team in their overdue sequel: Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

 After the 1970’s left the team out of business, years later there is a 24 Hour News Channel being put together with the team’s names all over it. Director Adam McKay has put together this hilarious sequel with the same great names that were in the first comedy such as, Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd and many more.




Saving Mr. Banks: Opening December 20


P.L. Travers played by Emma Thompson and Walt Disney played by Tom Hanks bring magic to the big screen.

Winds in the east, mist coming in like something is brewing, about to begin, for fans of the classic story of Mary Poppins and Disney lovers, comes one of the most anticipated film of the year.  Savings Mr. Banks tells the story of P.L. Travers; the author of Mary Poppins who is played by two-timed Academy Award Winner Emma Thompson. Opposite Thomson, Tom Hanks plays Walt Disney, who in the movie is trying in desperately to gain the rights to Travers novel. Disney goes to extreme lengths to win Travers approval so he could fulfill a life long dream of his daughters, to see Mary Poppins fly off the page and onto the big screen.
