Will The River stay or go up the creek?
Look for The River on ABC on Tuesdays at 9PM

The award winning Steven Spielberg and “Paranormal Activity” producer, Oren Peli, produced the new ABC show “The River.” The show heavily relies on Oren Peli’s work with “Paranormal Activity” by using the same “found footage” style he uses. The show takes place six months after famed Dr. Emmet Cole, played by Bruce Greenwood, goes missing. Dr. Cole’s character explores the far corners of the earth for a TV show where he shows his audience new and exciting places and animals. After disappearing for six months, he is finally pronounced dead but that does not stop his family from searching for him. His wife Tess, played by Leslie Hope, convinces their son Lincoln, played by Joe Anderson, that they have to go into the Amazon rainforest in search of Dr. Cole. Her reason being that his emergency beacon has suddenly started broadcasting, which means he could possibly be alive. Together with some old friends and a small TV crew, they go in search of the beacon.
If you like the “Paranormal Activity” series than you will like this series. I personally was never a fan of the movies so this show did not hold my attention as much as other shows. Looking at the success of the “Paranormal Activity” movies I am sure this series will do well. My only concern is that I am not sure if Peli can deliver the same mystery for an hour every week like the one he does with his movies. I suppose we will just have to see if this show survives the axe that so many shows have encountered.
