The National Broadway Tour of the Color Purple will arrive this Saturday, Feb. 18 at 8:00 p.m. to Bloomsburg University’s Mitrani Hall, Haas Center for the Arts. The Grammy-winning musical, set in the 1930s, is based off the fantastic Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Alice Walker and the ever so popular film directed by Steven Spielberg. Oprah Winfrey, who made her film debut in The Color Purple, was the original producer of this Broadway hit back in 2005. Just in time for Black History and Women’s History month, you can witness the powerful performance filled with jazz, ragtime, gospel and blues numbers. This inspiring musical will immerse you in the story of Celie’s life, a woman who finds hope in the face of severe adversity through love and her unique voice. Take the opportunity to witness her journey in life with friends and family. Tickets are available online or at the box office in the Haas Center for the Arts.
