The End of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”?!?!
Everyone has seen or at least heard of the infamous Honey Boo Boo child and her crazy out of control family. The child star started her career on “Toddlers and Tiaras” and was offered her own show after receiving numerous positive reviews after her debut. Since 2010, we have watched her and her family go through a wedding, a baby, and many other crazy adventures. The show was cancelled as of this past week due to a sex offender scandal.
According to TLC sources, Honey Boo Boo’s mother June Shannon (Mama June) dated a reported convicted sex offender, Mark Mcdaniel. Mcdaniel, who is 50 years old, was convicted of aggravated child molestation back in May 20, 2004. He registered himself as a sex offender in March 2014. TMZ reported that Mcdaniel went to jail because he molested one of Shannon’s relatives but she is denying that this happened. There are also many rumors that Shannon and Mcdaniel are indeed dating again which is why TLC insisted on canceling the show as soon as they found out.
June Shannon claims that she is not dating Mcdaniel and would never put her children in danger and cares very much about their safety. She also made a statement on video last week which she posted to Facebook claiming that she previously dated Mcdaniel 10 years ago and dumped him. Despite Shannon’s efforts to deny the scandal, TLC is standing by their decision and will not continue the show. A rep from TLC said that they will not support such an inappropriate situation such as this and do not want to be involved with it at all.
There is no news if children’s services are looking into the scandal yet. An official source from the department of Family and Children Services said that they could not talk about the specifics in the case. I am sure we all wish for the safety of Honey Boo Boo and hope that if this rumor is true, that the right precautions will be taken. As for her show, it is time to say goodbye to the zany, weird, southern family that we all loved to watch.
