If you’re a big fan of Marvel movies or just superhero movies in general, then you have to see Avengers: Age of Ultron. “Earth’s mightiest heroes” returned to the big screen on Friday and I couldn’t have been happier. I am a huge fan of superheroes and nerdy things alike and I was nothing short of blown away by how amazing the new Avengers was.

I went to the movie with a few of my roommates and a couple friends on Thursday night for a “special” screening at 11:45 p.m. My friends took a few verbal jabs at me for being overly excited about the movie but I paid no mind to their comments. I knew they were joking and that they were also excited for the movie, but were nowhere near my level of excitement.

Age of Ultron is the sequel to Marvel’s first movie, The Avengers. The first movie came out in 2012 and introduced us to the team of heroes including Iron Man, The Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor, and Captain America. The heroes took on Thor’s evil brother, Loki, as well as an alien army and were able to save New York City and the world from certain doom. However, that was only the beginning.

The second installment of Avengers blew me away. Its storyline was great and there were so many questions I had beforehand that were answered during the movie. Director Joss Whedon did a great job of continuing the individual development of each hero as well as developing a few new ones. Age of Ultron introduces a few new characters to the team which makes the movie even better. On top of character development, Whedon incorporates a lot of emotion into each character as well. Throughout the movie, you can’t help but share the same feelings of each hero as they are going through their “saving the world actions.” Humor was also a big part of the movie. Lots of witty remarks and good jokes were planted throughout the plot. Basically, each hero was portrayed just as human as we are.

A superhero movie would be nothing without action and a villain. Age of Ultron did not disappoint when it came to either of those. Ultron is an artificial intelligence program created by Tony Stark (Iron Man). However, Stark does not account for Ultron going bad. Ultron takes the form of a robot and can basically influence any sort of technology in the world. “He” is just an extremely smart and powerful computer program. You’ll understand what I’m talking about if you see the movie. Anyway, Ultron is a great villain. The action in the movie is great as well. The sequences of the big fights and even the small ones are all exciting and showcase each hero’s unique powers and abilities. I was on the edge of my seat the whole film.

Age of Ultron is definitely equal if not above the level of greatness as the first Avengers was. Every aspect of the film was very enjoyable for me. The movie was action packed, thought provoking and amazingly entertaining. It is safe to say that it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. Marvel has really outdone themselves and it will be hard to top this movie. Until the Avengers have to assemble once again, Age of Ultron will satisfy your craving for superhero awesomeness.
