“Hunger Games” Philip Seymore Hoffman Found Dead

On Feb. 2, Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York City apartment due to a drug overdose.

Many fans currently know him as Plutach Heavensbee from the highly successful 2013 film The Hunger Game: Catching Fire.

Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation who own the rights of the “Hunger Games” films released this statement:

“Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We’re very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip’s family.”

The 46-year-old actor had only one week left of shooting Mockingjay: Part 2 before his unexpected death. Lionsgate reported that the release of the final films of the Hunger Games series will not be changed. All of Hoffman’s scenes in Mockingjay: Part 1 are complete.

He is also known for his role Capote (2005) which he received an Oscar for Best Actor. During Hoffman’s career he stared in other films and theater which he also received awards for those productions.

Mockingjay:Part 1 will be out Nov. 21, 2014 and Mockingjay: Part 2 on Nov. 20, 2015.

He is survived by his partner Mimi and his three children.
