‘Glee’ star Cory Monteith Checks Into Rehab
The heart-throb Finn, as we know Cory Monteith as in ‘Glee,’ has struggled with substance abuse and is taking the necessary steps to get well again by going to rehab.
Actor Cory Monteith, or as fans know him, Finn Hudson from Fox’s “Glee,” has checked himself into rehab.
According to Monteith’s representatives, the “Glee” hunk voluntarily checked himself into rehab. The representative told PEOPLE magazine, “He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery.”
Monteith also admitted that he was checked into rehab once before when he was 19. What’s almost as surprising to Gleeks (avid “Glee” fans, Glee + geeks) is that his last check in was over 10 years ago. Monteith is 30-years-old.
Bloomsburg University junior Gabby Vielhauer, 20, associated Monteith with his character on “Glee.” “I have always seen Finn as the good, clean All-American boy since the very first season,” she said. “In my mind, the actor is therefore the same archetypical figure as Finn.”
Although many Gleeks see Monteith differently, Vielhauer does not, “He is a person with faults and vices, so I don’t feel right being upset with him,” she said. “I’m just glad he is seeking the help he needs.”
According to TMZ, Monteith talked about his last trip to rehab back in 2011, “I don’t want kids to think it’s okay to drop out of school and get high, and they’ll be famous actors, too,” he said. “But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it.”
His onscreen and real life girlfriend, Lea Michele, told PEOPLE magazine that she is proud of Monteith for making the move to rehab, “I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this,” she said.
Perez Hilton is reporting that Monteith’s character, Finn, will be written out of the final episodes of this season’s “Glee” and filming will continue.
