Gaga Replaces Beyoncé at Coachella
The Beehive collectively rejoiced when news spread that Beyoncé was due to be the first female to headline Coachella. Not only that, but she would soon be due with twins. Unfortunately for fans, she along with her doctor decided it would be best to skip the festival in favor of her and her twins’ health.
A statement to The Associated Press, by Parkwood Entertainment and Coachella producer Goldenvoice, stated that she plans on headlining Coachella in 2018 instead:
“Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, Beyoncé has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival,” the statement said. “However, Goldenvoice and Parkwood are pleased to confirm that she will be a headliner at the 2018 festival. Thank you for understanding.”
This decision must not have been made lightly as Beyoncé would’ve been the first female act to headline Coachella since Bjork in 2007. Luckily, another fabulous take-no-sass woman has stepped up to fill her spot.
Lady Gaga, badass and extra-ordinary, will now be the first female to headline the festival in 10 years. She will be performing April 15 and 22, with Radiohead performing on April 14 and 21 and Kendrick Lamar on April 16 and 23.
Following her Coachella appearance, Gaga’s Joanne World Tour kicks off on Aug. 1 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C. and continues around the U.S.
