The Race to the Oscars is on!

The inside information on who came out big with nominations and who got snubbed!

Oscar season is upon us again. This year’s 83rd Academy awards will be celebrated at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, Feb. 27. There is already much anticipation for the show with hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco. Sources say the two are eager to prove they can follow in the footsteps and beyond of past hosts such as Steve Martin and Billy Crystal.

Now on to the nominees and the snubs. Newcomer Hailee Steinfield was among the unexpected nominated for best supporting actress in her role as a stubborn young girl on the hunt for her father’s killer in True Grit.  She will be up against seasoned veterans such as Amy Adams in The Fighter, Helena Bonham Carter in The King’s Speech, Melissa Leo also in The Fighter and Jacki Weaver in Animal Kingdom. The king’s speech is getting lots of attention with its 12 nominations, the most of any film this Oscar season. A snub many didn’t see coming was Mila Kunis not being nominated for best supporting actress in Black Swan. One of the biggest snubs this year is Christopher Nolan’s not being nominated for best director; many feel his work on Inception merited a nomination and were disappointed he was looked over. However Inception did get a best picture nomination so perhaps he is taking comfort in that.

The Oscars well be here soon, full of glamor and class. Many people have parties to watch the Oscars; some even go so far as to gamble on who the winners in each category will be. You can check out the link below to see everyone nominated and a count down to the big show!
