Avril Lavigne Gets Lyme Disease

Pop star Avril Lavigne has been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease. Women’s Health says she was sick for a while before doctors diagnosed her with Lyme disease; first, they told her she was tired and dehydrated from her tour. However, Lavigne kept pushing for tests to be done.
According to People, singer Lavigne spent five months sick in bed. She says, “I spent a lot of time on my phone and was on Twitter a lot … [My fans] were asking about me since I was MIA, so I mentioned to one fan directly that I wasn’t feeling good.”
This went viral and a lot of her fans sent her get-well messages and videos. “I lay in bed watching them and cried so much because I felt loved, it was so powerful and beautiful.”
Lavigne also got a lot of help and support from her mom, who moved in with her for a while to help her get better. Her husband, Chad Kroeger from Nickelback, also stayed with her as much as possible.
Lyme disease is transmitted through just the bite of a tick. Ticks can carry diseases after they mate on certain animals including white-footed field mice, deer, raccoons, opossums, skunks, weasels, foxes, shrews, moles, chipmunks, squirrels, and horses.
The easiest way for a doctor to diagnose someone with Lyme disease is to identify the bulls-eye rash. If there is no rash, you will need a blood test so they can find antibodies to fight the bacteria.
