For The Cause: New Teen Center in Downtown Bloomsburg

Tonight, on Mainstreet in Bloomsburg, a brand new addition to the town was officially opened. For a long time in the making, Danielle Pearson (Assistant Director) and Teresa Peters (Regional Director), with help from a board of students at Bloomsburg Area High School, have worked long and hard for the grand opening of Bloomsburg’s FTC Teen Center.

What is the FTC Teen Center?

FTC stands for For The Cause, a non-profit linking people to resources in support of professional and social sustainability, with a significant emphasis on helping teens grow into tomorrow’s leaders. The FTC Teen Center provides a space in Bloomsburg, as well as various opportunities for students in 7-12th grade to nurture their social, emotional, and intellectual well-being.

Tech and Tools

Teens can choose to simply hang out with their classmates or collaborate on projects using various tools in the center, such as a 3D printer, a music studio, smart cutting machines, a PS5, and multiple iMacs. Alongside this state-of-the-art technology, students can access hot meals, snacks, counseling, and tutoring services.

For The Cause ensures that middle and high school students have a safe space to be together outside of school, offering the room and tools for students to grow together and make an impact on the community.

The Support of the “Now” Generation

The FTC Teen Center is a significant contribution to our town, but without countless donors and supporters of the space, many local to Bloomsburg and Columbia County, the center would not exist. Being a teenager can be difficult, but the teen center ensures that many people in and around downtown Bloomsburg care about our youth. Teenagers are not just the future but the now, and the new center creates a space where students can act and contribute to their futures and the community.
