April is the official month of Autism Awareness and BUnow wants to welcome YOU to join our “Pieces for Hope” fundraiser! Every year organizations around the world create their own unique fundraisers to spread Autism Awareness and we wanted to join in on all of the action!
BUnow is holding an outdoor fundraiser on the Lycoming lawn of BU’s campus, Wednesday April 16, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. for a fun filled day of crafting. BUnow is teaming up with Autism Speaks and the sisters of Alpha Sigma Tau.
Founded in Feb. 2005 by Bob and Suzanne Wright who have a grandson with Autism, Autism Speaks is one of the world’s leading Autism advocacy groups. They are dedicated to raising awareness and funding research into prevention, causes, and a cure for Autism.
Alpha Sigma Tau is a National Sorority on the campus of Bloomsburg University that strives to perform committed service and academic success. “We are thrilled to be a part of such an amazing event and cause. As an active service organization, we are looking forward to our collaboration with BUnow to raise Autism Awareness,” said Ashley Rhodes, President of Alpha Sigma Tau.
Participants of the fundraiser can donate $1 to decorate a blank puzzle piece. Once the puzzle pieces are decorated and dried, they will be put together, and an overhead picture will be taken of the completed puzzle. All of the proceeds and the picture will be donated to Autism Speaks.
Come to the Lycoming lawn in between classes, on a lunch break, or whenever you have free time to enjoy a student and community collaboration for a great cause.
We would like to thank and recognize Kelly McNamara, president of Autism speaks, Jamie North our overhead photographer, the sisters of Alpha Sigma Tau, and BUnow’s PR chair and assistant chair Danielle Columbo and Alex Paulinho for making this all possible!
