Fashionistas are going to flip when they hear what the most successful, elite fashion brand has in stores for the industry. Italian luxury brand, Dolce & Gabbana, has created one of the most unique collections the fashion world has ever seen; they combined their amazing fashion sense with the modest Muslim hijab and abayas for Muslim women. Dolce & Gabbana will most likely be answering some questions about this contradicting duo. Hijabs and abayas are typically worn in Middle Eastern culture. Will this collection become a fashion controversy? Will other designers follow this trend?
According to Vogue, Dolce & Gabbana’s revenue is projected to sky rocket from $266 billion in 2013 to $484 billion by 2019. People of the Muslim culture were very excited about the high end brand creating pieces that support a very prevalent part of their culture. Many Muslim women including myself were shocked and impressed to see Dolce & Gabbana designing hijabs and abayas. You could say that this is a game changer and the beginning of a beautiful cultural development. Some may say that this Dolce & Gabbana collection will be very exciting to see and wear, but others might think otherwise.
