Desean Jackson back in Philly
DeSean Jackson has spent the past five seasons with two different teams, the Washington Redskins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For the 2019 season Jackson has ended up at the place where everything first began, the Philadelphia Eagles. On Sept. 8, DeSean Jackson played his first game back with the Philadelphia Eagles against the Redskins.
Jackson started his career being drafted in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. In the six years that Jackson was a part of the Eagles he made it to the Pro Bowl three times. Even though in the 2013-14 season Jackson statistically had the best season of his career, he was released by the Eagles on March 28, 2014. Jackson left the Eagles with the franchise’s 4th most receiving yards, 8th most receptions, and tied for the 3rd most 100-plus receiving-yard games.
Washington Redskins
On April 2, 2014 Jackson was signed with the Washington Redskins. On the NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2014, Jackson was voted the 63rd best player in the league. In 2015 Jackson spent most of the season sitting out due to an injured shoulder on Aug. 6 and a hamstring injury from the season opener. Jackson did not return that year until Nov. 8. Jackson ended his last season with the Redskins in 2016 with 56 receptions for 1,005 yards and four touchdowns, leading the NFL for the third time with 17.9 yards per catch.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
On March 9, 2017 Jackson signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jackson only played for the Buccaneers for two seasons. At the end of Jackson’s second year with the Buccaneers he had enough receptions (41 for 774 yards) to qualify as the league-leader in yards per reception for the fourth time in his career.
With one year left in Jackson’s contract with the Buccaneers he requested a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in October. The Eagles were swapping late round 2019 draft picks in mid-March when they picked up Jackson.
Back with the Eagles
Jackson started his first game back with the Eagles as wide receiver, thus proving himself to be as great as he was in his first stint with the Eagles. The Eagles were down 17-0 late in the second quarter. With about five minutes left in the quarter Carson Wentz threw the ball deep down-field and Jackson caught it for a 51-yard touchdown, making the score 17-7 after the extra point. Jackson later caught another touchdown, which led to his final stat-line of eight receptions for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
After one game, DeSean Jackson is showing that he fits right in with the team where it all started. Many of the guys he once played with on the Eagles are no longer there, but he is making good relationships with the current players, and is now looking for a Super Bowl win.
