With CGA elections currently underway, Democracy Matters has invited candidates and the student body to an open forum where the Bloomsburg community can learn more about CGA and the important issues facing the campus.  The event begins at 5 p.m. tonight and will take place in Old Science room 113.

Voting for the executive offices of CGA opened early Wednesday morning and will run until Thursday at midnight.

After the forum ends, students are invited to join Democracy Matters in their first major event of the semester.  At 7 p.m. in the Kehr Union ballroom, the organization will host a viewing of the film “V for Vendetta.”

The purpose of the event is to entertain students while at the same time encouraging social awareness of the issues facing our world today.  “V for Vendetta” is a film portraying the “nightmare scenario,” which refers to a society that citizens have become so removed from politics that the government takes complete control.  Following the movie will be an open discussion regarding the issues and themes raised in the film.

Democracy Matters meets every Thursday evening at 5 p.m. in Old Science 113. The group advocates civic responsibility and works to raise awareness about the harms of money influencing American politics.
