The Scranton Commons, known to Bloomsburg University students as simply “the Commons,” is one of the most populated dining centers on all of campus. This has come to the attention of many BU students during the first month of the 2010 fall semester.

When asked her take on the long lines at the Commons, freshmen Caitlin Berardi (Age: 18/From: Long Island, NY/Dorm: Columbia) said “It is unexpected when everyone goes at the same time. You would think they would try to avoid the long line.”

The Commons is open for lunch, which seems to be the time of day when this dining facility is most populated, from 10:30a.m to 2p.m. So, why do students choose to go at the average time of 12p.m? That is one thing we may not figure out in this semester.

Since this is the time when the Commons is most crowded, not only the entrance line is long, but the food lines as well.

“They should have more staff. […] Maybe if they had more food prepared previously, the [food] lines would go faster.” This was a suggestion made by freshmen Christa Loughlin (18/Lansdale, PA/Columbia).

The Scranton Commons are open seven days a week. For breakfast they are open Monday-Friday 7-9:30a.m, lunch is Monday-Friday from 10:30a.m-2p.m and dinner is Monday-Thursday 4-8p.m. On weekends, brunch is from 10a.m-2p.m, and dinner is from 4:30-8:30.

Without a doubt 12 noon is a time to avoid when going to the Scranton Commons.
