Time is counting down until Bloomsburg University’s campus will host the first ever PASSHE Collegiate Media Summit.
On Sept. 22 and 23 Bloomsburg University’s student-run online publication, BUnow.com will be hosting this amazing opportunity free of charge to PASSHE students. The event is co-sponsored by Bloomsburg University’s College of Liberal Arts and PSECU (Pennsylvania State Employee Credit Union).
The summit will feature keynote speaker Sree Sreenivasan. Sreenivasan is not only the chief digital officer for Columbia University, but he is also a regular contributor to the well-known news source, CNN.
Speakers at the summit will include Emmy Award winning, investigative reporter Andy Mehalshick, and 2012 Pulitzer Prize winner and Indiana State University graduate, Susan Snyder.
Also speaking will be: Katrina Foster who opened up her own Public Relations firm in 2006 and was named one of the “Top 20 Under 40 Business & Community Leaders” in 2009 by Sussex County, Pennsylvania’s first Google trusted photographer, Jeremy Powlus, and Vince Benedetto, who is the founder and owner of Bold Gold Media Group, which runs nine radio stations.
A few familiar faces will even pop-up at the summit. BU’s own Mercedes Smith and Dave Stanwick, both former students will be presenting on young entrepreneurship. Lauren Grose, a BU junior journalism major, will speak on the topic of how she landed a one-on-one interview with rapper J. Cole last spring. Joe Fisher, a senior mass communication and political science major and managing editor of The Voice, alongside Vanessa Pellechio, editor-in-chief of The Voice, will speak about how they landed the stellar internships with Los Angeles’s KNBC-TV and WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) magazine. Even Richard
Ganhal and Sharon Santus, and Jason Genovese, all professors of the mass communication field here at Bloomsburg University, will be speaking.
