Complexions Dance comes to BU

Bloomsburg University Celebrity Artist Series presented the Complexions Contemporary Ballet on Saturday, March 31 in Mitrani Hall, Haas Center for the Arts.
This creative, boundary-breaking dance company is under the artistic direction of Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson. Richardson was nominated for a Tony award in 1999 and is claimed to be “one of the greatest modern dancers of his time,” by the New York Times. This will be his last tour as a principle dancer with Complexions.

The performing company’s members were Desmond Richardson, Natalia Alonso, Edgar Anido, Mark Caserta, Francesca Dario, Christina Dooling, Jourdan Epstein, Gary W. Jeter II, Sabra Perry, Juan Rodriguez, Tercell Waters, and Clifford Williams.
The night’s events consisted of seven dances in three acts. Dwight Rhoden choreographed all of the dances with great acquisition.
“Mercy” was the name of the dance performed in Act I, while Act II had “Choke,” “Testament,” “Dear Frederic,” “On Holiday,” and “Moonlight.” Act III’s arrangement was called “Rise.” All of these numbers were performed with great technique and required much skill in the craft of contemporary dance. The different kinds of movements the dancers had to take on were complex and breathtaking. Each story had its own set of movement, where the audience could see the heart and soul of every dancer on stage.
These passionate dancers brought all that they have to the stage, giving the audience an intense and beautiful experience.
