Celebrities: Would You Take A Course About Them?

If a course had a topic of a celebrity, would you take it?

There is a course that will be introduced at Skidmore College,New York, that will be about Miley Cyrus. The course is called “The Sociology of Miley Cyrus: Race, Class, Gender and Media.” According to US Magazine, you must have a background in Sociology and be willing to write in order to get into the course. The exams do not have any multiple choice answers, so be prepared!

The professor who created and will teach the course is Carolyn Chernoff, the Assistant Professor of Sociology. She got the idea when she saw the controversial performance between Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke. She thought that there was a lot to learn from Miley Cyrus’s behavior and how much it had changed from her beginning status as innocent “Hannah Montana”.

Surprisingly, Miley Cyrus isn’t the first celebrity to have their very own course. Beyonce is also a subject of a course at Rutgers University, in New Jersey. The title of the Beyonce’s course is “Politicizing Beyonce.” “Politicizing Beyonce” will “explore American race, gender and sexual politics,” as stated by BBC News.

Bruce Springsteen and Jay-Z, who happens to be Beyonce’s husband, have their own courses as well.
