Attention all Marvel fans, the moment we have all been waiting for is finally here! “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finally hit theaters on Friday, April 4.
This long anticipated release of the second installment of Marvel comics superhero Steve Rodgers, a.k.a Captain America grossed about $96.2 million in it’s first weekend. This is a 47% increase from the original movie “Captain America: The First Avenger” which premiered in 2011.
In this movie, fans see Rodgers (Chris Evans), after The Avengers save New York City, in Washington D.C. working for S.H.I.E.L.D. Things take a turn, though, when the director of this organization, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is attacked by the dreaded Hydra. This forces Rodgers’ to ban together with fellow Avenger, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), a.k.a. Black Widow and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), a.k.a. Falcon in order to protect millions of lives. However, Captain America is bombarded by someone from his past, childhood friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), a.k.a. The Winter Soldier.
This movie is packed with action that is displayed in epic shoot outs and car chases. Though at times the movie dragged, it was still a compelling story that had your eyes glued to the screen for the entire 136 minutes. If you are a fan of the Marvel franchise then this is definitely a must see film. Also, don’t forget to stay afterwards to catch the always anticipated preview of what’s to come as they introduce two new characters that will leave you hanging until the next film comes out.
