Relay for Life Hits a Sweet Spot in Bloomsburg

Relay for Life was a huge success this weekend at Bloomsburg University in the Student Rec Center!
Relay for Life is an organized overnight fundraising walk to benefit the American Cancer Society and to raise cancer awareness. To signify that cancer never sleeps, teams camp out along a track from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. where the goal is to have at least one member for each team walk at all times during the event.
This year’s theme was sweets; teams got creative with the idea, incorporating Skittles, M&M’s, and other big names into their stands. Some notable events were the annual Miss Relay Pageant, Dodge Ball Tournament, Root-beer Pong Tournament, and the “Midnight Donut Run,” where runners sprinted 200m, ate a doughnut, then had to sprint another 200m. With so many things to do and up-bet music all night, over 800 participants had fun and fought against cancer all night long!
