BU Nursing Students First Respond to Crash

On August 23, around 8:30 p.m. a two-car collision occurred at the intersection of Lightstreet and Country Line roads. The first to respond were senior nursing majors at Bloomsburg University.
James Gould, one of the nursing students, was with a fellow student carrying a TV when they heard the crash. Gould along with other nursing students immediately rushed into action.
The students dragged the women out from her car, but were unable to pull the man to safety. The first responders used fire extinguishers, from their apartments, to contain the flames, and to snuff out the flames on the women’s leg before help arrives. Firefighters cut the top of the Porsche off in order to be able to get the man out. Police and firefighters closed Lightstreet RD until the accident was processed and cleared.
When spoken with, the nursing majors said they were just doing their duty as future nurses.
No update on the condition of the man and women in the burning car this past morning. No one in the other vehicle involved was injured.
