Thursday, March 5 showed the best fundraiser the Bloomsburg LGBTQA has had to date with nearly $900 raised. The event was not only profitable, but also incredibly entertaining. The Spring 2015 Drag Show was named “Green with Envy” and was held in the Kehr Union Ballroom. All benefits went toward “Relay for Life.”

The Show started with host Harpey Love Daniels. This was not her first Bloomsburg appearance, and by the sound of the ballroom, was definitely a crowd favorite. Humorous and gorgeous, Harpey kept all in attendance laughing and excited as she introduced the next entertainer. The Show consisted of 21 performances with an intermission in-between. The Movement Dance Crew ended the night with a bang by treating the crowd with a fast-paced and impressive routine.

The individual pieces consisted of professionals and students. Weaving in and out of the crowd, the performers danced, sang, and grappled with the large amount of bills being thrust at them. The Ballroom was packed, and the ambiance was electrifying. With lights, music, talented performances, and a very receptive crowd, the night couldn’t have been any livelier.

As this was my first Drag Show, I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. Now that I have experienced one, I will be sure not to miss another. It was exciting, liberating, and just plain fun. I recommend to all who are hesitant, or to those who just haven’t managed to make it to a show, to go out and experience the next one. Not only will you be highly entertained, but by contributing to Relay for Life you’ll be helping to make a difference in the lives of others.
