Throughout this week, Bloomsburg University’s Green Campus Initiative held a three-day Earth Day Celebration.  This included Earth friendly events such as tie-dye, hemp bracelet making, and face painting.  Advertising for these events consisted of sayings like “love your mother earth” and “Earth day celebration on quad 11-3” in chalk on the walkways of campus.

Also, there was a farmers market which will be on campus every week between Navy Hall and the Bakeless Center starting in September.  This farmers market helps benefit the on campus environmental group Helping Our Planet Earth (better known as HOPE).

“BU is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and environmental impact, resulting in several green initiatives being implemented with much success and many more are in the works.  Collaborating with students, faculty, staff, civic leaders, local residents and other partners, BU is developing innovative strategies and practices for sustainability iniatives across campus and local community.” – BU Today Page.
