Most people love the holiday classic, A Christmas Story. Now you can see it live. Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble is presenting the play November 26th-December 23rd, 2010 at the Alvina Krause Theatre. They will be performed Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m, Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. The play is directed by James Goode.
The play deals with a boy named Ralphie who wants an official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock, and this thing which tells time. Everyone tells him he’ll “shoot his eye out”, and it becomes his sole mission to convince his parents to buy it for him for Christmas. Along the way he deals with the school bully, a trip to see Santa, his dad’s new lamp, triple dog dares, and the bloodhounds next door.
The Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble performed this play very well, and considering a lot of the children in this play had never been on stage before, their acting abilities amazed me. The play really gets you into the Christmas spirit, and if you have the time, you should try to go see it. Tickets are going fast, so buy them as soon as possible!
