Browns plan on parting ways with Manziel

1101572-johnny-manzielThe “Johnny Football” era in Cleveland appears to be over.

On Tuesday the Browns released a statement from their Executive Vice President of Football Operations, Sashi Brown, regarding Johnny Manziel;

“We’ve been clear about expectations for our players on and off the field. Johnny’s continual involvement in incidents that run counter to those expectations undermines the hard work of his teammates and the reputation of our organization. His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules. We will have no further comment at this time.”

To say that Manziel has been hard to deal with would be an understatement.

After a disappointing rookie season, Manziel went to rehab to get help with an alcohol addiction. Manziel’s partying antics go back to his days at Texas A&M. Just look at the picture below. He’s quite a hot-shot, isn’t he?

Well, apparently the rehab didn’t help. Good Ol’ Johnny continued to have several off-field incidents during the season. Here are the highlights. Grab some popcorn.

Incident #1 – Manziel and girlfriend questioned by police

In October reports surfaced that Johnny Manziel and his girlfriend were questioned by police after the couple was having a domestic dispute in a car.

According to the ESPN report, a witness says Manziel was going about 90 on a highway near Cleveland, cut over several lanes of traffic and prevented his girlfriend from leaving the vehicle. When questioned, Manziel and his girlfriend admitted to drinking, but were both sober while Manziel was driving.

Nothing really became of this incident.

Incident – Partying in Texas during Browns bye week

On Nov. 24, a week after Manziel was named the Browns starting quarterback for the rest of the season, he was demoted to third-string quarterback after a video surfaced online of him partying in Texas during Cleveland’s bye.

Take a look at the video for yourself. Turn up, Johnny. Get lit.

Manziel was named the starter again in week 14.

Incident #3 – F@*K Showing up for a game, I’m going to Vegas!

During the Browns week 16 game against the Chiefs, Manziel suffered a concussion and was ruled out for week 17. Well, apparently Johnny decided that he was too cool to even show up for the Browns game against the Steelers on Jan. 3.

With his concussion, Manziel was supposed to report to the team medic on the morning of the Pittsburgh game. However, Johnny was spotted at a casino in Las Vegas the night before the game, apparently in disguise. According to a report, Manziel was wearing a blonde wig, mustache, glasses, a hoodie, and was going by the name “Billy.” So, incase you were wondering what this probably looked like, meet Billy Manziel.

Johnny also took to Instagram the night of his incident, trying to cover his tracks incase he was caught. Here’s his post.

Not shown here, but the captain #SaturdayNights was written with this post.

If there ever was a place in the NFL for Johnny Manziel, it was Cleveland. Manziel could not even last there and is quickly throwing away his career in the trash, much like the Browns have to their organization.

If the Browns do follow through and get rid of Manziel in March, it will be hard to imagine that another team will give this guy a chance. It is clear that he is immature, out of control and incapable of being a professional. There are rumors that the Cowboys are interested, but who knows what Jerry Jones is thinking.

I do not want to see Johnny Manziel back in the NFL, but it would not be surprising at all to see him get a second chance. Crazier things have happened.
