Breakdown of The North Korean Mayhem
Kim Jong-un, the current leader of North Korea, made news breaking statements last week announcing the reopening of their nuclear facilities 
in Pyongyang. The plant has been closed since 2008. Kim Jong-un called nuclear weapons development a top priority for his country.
North Korea has made threats to attack South Korea and some U.S. targets like Hawaii, Guam and on the mainland in cities like Austin, Texas. According to James Hardy, Asia-Pacific’s editor of IHS Jane’s Defence Weekly says, “Unless there has been a miraculous turnaround among North Korea’s strategic forces, there is little to no chance that it could successfully land a missile on Guam, Hawaii or anywhere else outside the Korean Peninsula that U.S. forces may be stationed.”
Both the U.S. and South Korea threaten retaliation if they are attacked. The U.S. military has more than 28,500 troops in South Korea. If North Korea goes along with the threats to the South this would lead to a response from South Korea and the United States ultimately leading to the destruction of North Korea and Kim Jung-un’s regime.
The United States deployed stealth fighter jets to South Korea on Thursday, March 28 as part of ongoing joint military exercises between the two countries, a senior U.S. defense official said. It is a very aggressive message sent by the United States letting surrounding countries know that they can attack on land through water and air if need be.
China has even gotten involved attempting to control the rhetoric of war. Having a U.S. presence so large would not be beneficial for China and North Korea.
