Bloomsburg Rec. Center is Now on Facebook!

The Bloomsburg Student Recreation Center has gone social, creating a facebook page for the students, faculty, and town members of Bloomsburg University and Bloomsburg, PA to follow them on.

The purpose of the facebook page is to inform members of time changes, various upcoming events, pictures of past events, links to activities and clubs at Bloomsburg University, and much more. The page also hopes to help incoming freshmen learn all about what the Rec has to offer so they can continue or start their pursuit of a healthier body and lifestyle. Also, it hopes to generate more interest in the intramural sports that the Rec offers to increase the participation, competition levels, and overall, the fun found at the Rec. “I think it’s a great idea to get the Rec on Facebook. I didn’t know much about it when I first got here, so it’s a really good way to get the image and activities out there,” said Garrett Kroboth, a Bloomsburg University sophomore.

The page was created by a public relations team for the class Publicity and PR and at the end of the fall semester, the page will be turned over to the Rec Center staff for it to be run by Rec Center employees. The group felt that with the social media craze that has engulfed most high school and college students, a facebook page would be the perfect way to disclose the various events and facilities the Rec Center offers.

Overall, the page will look to generate interest from not only current students at Bloomsburg University, but also the future incoming freshmen classes. The facebook page looks to move the Rec Center into the social media field that is so quickly growing, thriving and that is now a part of students’ everyday lives.
