Active shooter cases are petrifyingly occurring more and more every year across America. Over the last five years, there have been at least 15 prominent, high-casualty producing active shooter incidents. With the rising number of casualties, it is imperative for the Bloomsburg campus to be as prepared as possible if an emergency like this would occur.
In response to this issue, Bloomsburg University faculty and staff are going above and beyond to make sure the students and faculty are very safe on the campus they live, work, and attend school.
On Nov. 16, 2013, this coming Saturday, the Kehr Union is holding a precautionary event that will cover issues including fire safety, active shooter occurrences, as well as many other safety issues. The event will begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 11 a.m.
The students will be able to work hands on to gain the skills they would need to be safe in a dangerous situation. This will even include using a real fire extinguisher to put out a fire, something everyone should know how to do in case of emergency.
Student employees in Kehr Union are encouraged to come out and learn these important safety skills to help ensure their safety and the safety of their campus and home.
