After a recent interview, The Office fans’ feelings for Jim Halpert and Pam Beesley (or “Jam”) were rekindled. Actress Jenna Fischer revealed on Watch What Happens Live that she and actor John Krasinski were “genuinely in love” during filming.
“There’s a real part of me that is Pam and a real part of him that is Jim, and those parts of us were genuinely in love with one another,” she said to a caller.
Krasinki later went on to tell The Daily Beast that he believes she was misinterpreted. He believes that she was trying to say something about how genuine the onscreen couple was, but the quote had been taken far out of context. Despite Krasinki’s comments, fans will always love Jam.
Fischer and Krasinski starred in nine seasons of the comedy, and after three seasons their characters fell in love. The couple of the Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company stole our hearts as one of the most genuine and cute couples on screen.
As Valentine’s Day approaches, here’s a list of how Jim and Pam are ultimate relationship goals:
- They’re super cute best friends.
Being best friends with the person you’re dating is one of the best feelings in the world. They can be a little dorky, but they can always be themselves. They can eat grilled cheese on the roof, share headphones, and scheme to trick Dwight at work even before they got together. They know each other well, like when they got each other meaningful gifts (Pam made Jim a COMIC BOOK ABOUT HIM and he got her a teapot of inside jokes). They’re quirky, but they understand each other. Plus, their air-fives are classic. Being yourself is so important in a relationship.
- They support each other.
If Pam ever felt insecure, Jim would always pick her back up. They embraced every flaw, quirk, and their inner dorks. When Pam goes back to school, Jim stays behind in Scranton. Long-distance is tough, but they made it work. They always had each other’s backs. Even
when times were tough in the later seasons, they still loved each other (probably because fans would riot if they broke up).
- They’re not perfect, and they accept it.
No one’s perfect, and sometimes we don’t feel as adequate as the person we’re with. Lots of times in their relationship, Jim and Pam felt as if they weren’t good enough for each other. In the beginning Pam was engaged to Roy, while Jim dated a few ladies here and there. They were great office friends, but viewers could see the chemistry they had with each other. Pam called off her engagement because of Jim, and when Jim was with Karen, Pam let him know the truth. Pam even got pregnant before they actually got married. In later seasons, their relationship wasn’t picture perfect, but there was always a silver lining that shone through and they still cared for each other.
- Their wedding is amazing.
Seriously, go watch the episodes in season six. From the moment Jim met Pam, he bought an engagement ring. He knew she was the girl of his dreams. In the words of Jim:
“Four years ago, I was just a guy who had a crush on a girl, who had a boyfriend. And I had to do the hardest thing that I’ve ever had to do, which was just to… wait. Don’t get me wrong, I flirted with her. Pam, I can now admit in front of friends and family, that I do know how to make a photocopy. Didn’t need your help that many times. And, uh, do you remember how long it took you to teach me how to drive stick? I’ve been driving stick since high school, so… For a really long time that’s all I had. Little moments with a girl who saw me as a friend. And, a lot of people told me I was crazy to wait this long for a date with a girl I work with but I think, even then I knew that… I was waiting for my wife.”
