Ariana Grande: Master of Impersonations

Recently, Ariana Grande hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live. One of her skits included acting as an intern for Tidal, a music sharing website, which was spoofed on SNL for its streaming issues. In the skit, the website was losing power and lost several of its most popular channels, starting with Britney Spears. One of the panicked employees said he heard Grande’s character singing Britney Spears in the hallway so she could fill in until the site was working properly.

Grande’s shy and awkward intern character belted it out and nailed Spears, Shakira, Rihanna, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston. When the Ariana Grande’s channel lost power though, the intern comically said she wasn’t much of a fan of her. Her impersonation of Rihanna mocked the inability for anyone to understand what she’s saying in her song “Work” other than the word work.

It is pretty much non-debatable that Grande’s impersonations of all the singers were spot-on. Check out the clip below.

Grande has impersonated singers before, like on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She played “Wheel of Musical Impressions” with Fallon where she did Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Celine Dion. The game required her to sing nursery rhymes and songs that did not belong to the artist, but she still hit the nail on the head for each of them.

Check out the clip below.

There’s no doubt Grande has a unique and talented voice of her own, but being able to channel some of the biggest names in the music industry is truly a gift.
