And the Winners are….

Miss the Oscars this year? Here’s what happened!

This years Oscars came and went with a less then stellar impression. While there were some laughs they seemed to be few and far between. Apparently a lot of the antics planned that would have packed that biggest punch of laughter were nixed at the last minute. Such as a musical number from Grease that hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco were supposed to perform.  Also actor Will Arnett was planning to recreate one of the most memorable Oscar events, the streaking at the 1974 Oscars but ABC decided against the skit out of fear that the pixelation covering his private areas would fail during the live broadcast. The opening  to the ceremony was funny enough with a take on nominated picture, Inception that included Alec Baldwin and Morgan Freedman but after that the show seemed to lag on.

However dull the Oscars may have seemed the most important part of the evening is the winners! The Kings Speech won big and tied with Inception for four wins, those include best director and best original screenplay, also getting Colin Firth the win for best actor. There wasn’t much surprise when Black Swan’s, Natalie Portman took home best actress and gave a sweet and touching speech. Unlike The Fighter’s, Melissa Leo, who had a less then elegant speech while accepting her Oscar for best actress in a supporting role, going so far as to drop the F bomb. Best actor in a supporting role went to Christan Bale for The Fighter who delivered a heartfelt speech and thanked the man his character was based on, Dicky Eklund.

Not much else can be said for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. The show was a let down after previous years with hosts such as Hugh Jackman, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, proving that perhaps the hosting job should be left to more seasoned comedians/actors.
