Nicki Minaj, the Trinidadian rapper, is officially having her own comedy TV series on ABC Family. She is also going to be the executive producer of the show that will showcase her life growing up in Queens, N.Y. The show will focus on her transition–personally and musically–from belonging to an immigrant family to achieving a very successful rapping career and stardom. Aaron Kapital Entertainment will be filming a pilot episode this winter of her hometown. You don’t want to miss the first episode!
As reported by ABC News, Minaj said,“this is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on. I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”
A lot of people don’t know that Minaj has some acting experience up her sleeve. She studied acting at the prestigious Manhattan high school, LaGuardia High School. She pursued acting as her life goal before she even thought about making music. She was featured in a few movies such as The Other Woman, Barbershop 3, and had a voice role in Ice Ace: Continental Drift. Minaj has also appeared on the hit comedy TV show, Saturday Night Live portraying the characters of Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé. Her career as a rapper and as an actress has inspired her fans and encourages them to believe that they too can achieve their dreams.
