UPDATE: Female has been identified, as well as her Twitter. She just tweeted the following: “My boyfriend is a police officer. He is supposed to have his weapon off duty. He also has his BADGE on him.”

American University campus is on lockdown after reports of a man with a gun Wednesday night.

The university tweeted the about the gunman at about 7:55 pm on December 11. AU Public Safety then updated their Twitter page at 8:36 p.m. with a photograph of two suspicious individuals. If anyone recognizes these two people, they are urged to call AU Public Safety’s emergency hotline at 202-885-3636.

One student, Kristen Pulkstenis, 20, said that since the university first alerted students through their emergency broadcast system at 7:55 p.m., “In under 5 minutes, I saw DC police on campus, and in under 15 [minutes], helicopters overhead. The university was sending text, email, and twitter updates roughly every 10 minutes.”

As to the picture of the suspects, Pulkstenis said, “I can tell you that I personally have never seen those people before in my life, and AU is not that big of a community, so it seems unlikely to me that they’re students here.”
