Why Bill Hess’s Tavern is the Best

Are you tired of the same old bar scene here at Bloomsburg?

Loud music, the inability to speak with your friends, and long lines for watered down drinks all seem to be the norm at most of the Bloomsburg bars. Maybe it’s time to give Hess’s Tavern a shot.

Hess’s is a throwback bar. They don’t cheat you on drinks, they have pool tables, 70’s and 80’s rock playing in the background with a traditional wraparound bar where you and your friends can come, have a beer and truly hang out. It’s the absolute perfect place to go after a long night out and you just want to hang out and have a drink. You won’t have to wait in long lines for service at Hess’s either, the bartenders are quick and get you your drinks right away. Sure, it’s dimly lit and has a keen cigarette scent to it 6031c306e5ed1eb417b2399ee8f8645bbut when a bar has been around since the late 1800’s, you kind of expect things like that.

There is one part about Hess’s that is a little odd and that’s the downstairs, which may come as a surprise to most of you. Yes, Hess’s has a downstairs and it’s a little odd, but definitely worth going down… one time. For some reason, Hess decided to go with a Western theme for their downstairs and it seems like a lot of it is pretty old stuff. If you’ve heard the downstairs at Hess’s is a little bizarre, that’s fine, the upstairs is always a good time and has been since 1889. Also, if you’re a fan of PBR(Pabst Blue Ribbon), like we all should be, Hess’s has $1.25 drafts and $2.25 PBR pounders, which makes anyone’s night.

For my friends and I, Hess’s is THE spot to go after a long night out on the town, or if you’re in the middle of a long night out, it’s the perfect spot to go and kind of regroup before heading out once again. If you’re a senior and you haven’t been to Hess’s one time in your four year college career, it’s about time to get out the bucket list and check Bill Hess’s Tavern off of it.
