Stress is a killer, it’s a scientific fact, and what stresses students more than finals? Thankfully free head, neck, and shoulder massages will be given from noon to 5 p.m. on Dec. 5, 6, and 7 in the Kehr Union Building. Sign-up inadvance for a free 10 minute session, otherwise the two masseuses on duty will take walk-ins when possible.
Students are notorious for bad posture and a massage has more than a few benefits for both mind and body. Massaging, or the art thereof, has been around for 5,000 years and was used by the ancient Egyptians and Chinese – for a good reason. According to MassageTherapy.com, massages can alleviate low levels of back and migraine pain as well as relieve anxiety and depression.
A good massage is just the thing after a strenuous work out, as any of our BU athletes will probably tell you. That’s because a good rubdown releases endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller, and improves blood and lymph circulation. Massaging, or “bodywork,” can also boost concentration, range of motion, and the immune system. So get your aching neck down to the KUB to schedule your free massage from noon to 5 p.m. on Dec 5, 6, or 7 and give this semester’s finals your best!
