The 54th Grammy Awards Winners

by -

Music’s finest artists gathered at the Staples Center in Los Angeles this past Sunday night, for the 54th annual Grammy Awards.

Host for the evening, LL Cool J, opened the festivities with a prayer for recently deceased music icon, Whitney Houston. He also went on to describe the inspirational evening as one where the artists pour their “heats and souls” into their musical act.

Kick starting the night’s performance, Bruce Springsteen performed “We Take Care of Our Own,” showing that he may have grown older, but some things are better with age. LL Cool J praised Springsteen’s performance saying that the oldie but goody artist “still speaks to our times.”

Bruno Mars followed Springsteen in a line up of fabulous performances. Dressed in a gold suit, Mars gave a stellar doo-whop style show complete with a live brass section. Chris Brown also gave a note worthy performance featuring a group of highly acrobatic dancers and a coulourful light show. Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, The Civil Wars, Glen Campbell, Adele, and Nikki Minaj kept up the amazing solo performances. Nikki Minaj was one of the more theatrical showcases of the night, with her exorcism-like storyline and Roman Catholic robe clad dancers. To honor the memory of Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson gave a heart-felt performance of the late icon’s hit ballad “I Will Always Love You.”

Duets were performed by: Alicia Keys with Bonnie Raite, Jason Aldean with Kelly Clarkson, and Rihanna with Coldplay. There were also stunning collaborations of musical genius in the evening’s program. Marroon 5 and Foster the People performed “Surfer Girl” and “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” in honor of The Beach Boys’ 50th anniversary.

Chris Brown, The Foo Fighters, and Lil Wayne joined David Guetta and Deadmau5 in the Grammy’s first-ever live performance of dance music.

Overall, it was a star-studded night filled with stupendous performances and terrific tributes. Without further delay, the following are the worthy winners of the 2012 Grammy Awards:
